Custard was raised with Cosmos (YH) and Callum (YC). She was a more reserved, nervous chick, preferring to hide away in her kennel at the slightest disturbance. She was a small bird when flagged but otherwise in good health; female curlews are often a lot larger and stockier than the males.
Custard has hugged the coastal wall at Ken Hill since her release and has frequently met up with the other tracked birds who have also stayed around Ken Hill.

Custard has now joined Carswell’s (YJ) and Chetney’s (XX) little group and accompanies the two up and down the coast between Heacham and Snettisham. Although the three mostly travel as a group, Custard seems to favour Carswell over Chetney and is more likely to be found foraging closer to him.

Custard is still often recorded in the same fields as Carswell and Chetney, but she does seem to favour fields around Heacham rather than Ken Hill or Snettisham, more than the other two.
